Nitemen are somewhat related to humans (homo sapiens). There are three different kinds of nitemen 1.niteman who works in three shifts, 2.a part time niteman and 3.niteman.The rarest one of these is the niteman (number 3.) and it is also the most purebreeded one and nowdays it`s on the list of endangered species. The number of nitemen in Finland is estimated to be little less than 200. The vast reducing of the nitemen led to the pacification of the breed in the beginning of the new millennium. In the 1990`s nitemen were being hunted in restaurants, streets and near to the nest in hotel receptions. Nitemen were brutally converted into daymen and the rest were tried to destroy systematically.

Niteman is a beast. But seldom there are any danger for the humans. In general niteman is very calm and it tries to avoid any human contact. It lives in hotels preferrably near the centre of the city and it`s receptions. Niteman enjoys the company of papers, receipts and invoices. And usually it lurks behind the front desk or in the backroom, where it also sleeps.

Here are a few simple instructions when you are about to encounter a niteman.

-Approach the front desk calmly and preferrably sober. Act as normal as possible. Do not try to photograph or video the creature!

-If the niteman notices you ask calmly for the key to your room or for the wake up in clear manner.

-NEVER approach a niteman when your are intoxicated.

-Always ask all the necessary questions during the daytime. Avoid asking anything during the night.

-The best way to go is straight to the lift. Do not look back. And try to avoid any kind of contact with the niteman. Do not stare!

-Avoid sentences like: Can I settle my bill now or Sorry did I wake you?

-NEVER check-in to the hotel early in the morning and ask for a nonsmoking and quiet room!!

-NEVER wake up the niteman if it is asleep!!

Nitemen feed on french rolls, sandwiches and pizza. Also chicken is an important part of nitemen`s everyday food. Niteman quenches it´s thirst with light beverage or water.

The mating of nitemen happens usually during daytime, that`s just because of the day rhythm of the niteman.

The offspring (1-2) are born mainly in the summertime from june to august. They weight about 3700-4000 grams. When they are born they are nearly hairless and completely helpless. They stay near the nest until the age of 17 to 20 years  and that`s when they start looking for a nest of their own in hotels around the world.

The niteman has it`s own territoty which can vary from 15 square feet to 50 square feet. Sometimes the niteman leaves reception and it can be gone for several days in a row.
The attitudes towards nitemen are changed a lot since the early days. In the 80`s nitemen were considered to be loners and dangerous predators. As nowdays nitemen are more or less compared to humans. The rumours about the unpredictable behaviour of the nitemen are reduced. When treated right niteman can be a very  social and a very pleasant creature. There are even  known to be alliances between nitemen and humans.
